Platform differences (Web and desktop app)
Raily exists both in the browser and as an installed desktop app. The tools themselves — editing, selecting, rotating, snapping, layers — are the same on both, and plan files open the same way on both. What differs comes down to the window and the file, not the drawing.
Desktop app only
- Opening a plan file from Explorer, Finder or a Linux file manager, by double-click or by dragging it in from outside.
- A confirmation prompt when closing a window that has unsaved changes.
- The automatic update check with a selectable channel (Stable/Beta/Alpha), see Desktop app lifecycle.
The same on both
- Backup and recovery: Both back up in the background, keep the same versions, and offer unsaved work back at the next start. Only the location differs: browser storage on one side, the app's data folder on the other, see Backup and recovery.
- License: An unlicensed copy shows the same watermark on both; no platform asks about it separately at startup, see License, free tier and subscription.
