Raily5 — Downloads
macOS
Every Mac sold since late 2020 has Apple Silicon. If you are not sure, take the build that runs on either kind -- it is about twice the download.
Windows
Requires Windows 10 or later. On an older version of Windows, use Raily in your web browser at raily.ch.
Linux
A downloaded package installs from a terminal — Ubuntu's App Center cannot install one:
sudo apt install ./raily5.deb sudo dnf install ./raily5.rpm
Install from the package repository — updates then come with your system
Add the repository once, then install and update Raily like anything else on your system. Packages and repository are signed with the Raily release key.
Debian / Ubuntu
sudo install -d /etc/apt/keyrings sudo curl -fsSL https://raily.ch/static/raily5/repo/raily5.asc -o /etc/apt/keyrings/raily5.asc sudo curl -fsSL https://raily.ch/static/raily5/repo/raily5-stable.sources -o /etc/apt/sources.list.d/raily5.sources sudo apt update && sudo apt install raily5
Fedora / openSUSE
sudo curl -fsSL https://raily.ch/static/raily5/repo/raily5-stable.repo -o /etc/yum.repos.d/raily5.repo sudo dnf install raily5
What's new
• Flex track in plans imported from Raily 4 prints as drawn. • On Linux, printing in landscape no longer gives blank pages: Print sends the same PDF as Save as PDF. • Module editor: draw polygons as decoration, in stroke and fill colours of your choice, as in Raily 4.
• Flex track in plans imported from Raily 4 prints as drawn.
Earlier changes
• The 2D view has scrollbars, on by default. View › Scrollbars in 2D switches them off and on again.
• Print dialog: Save as PDF, at exactly the chosen scale. • Printouts: texts at the right size and on every sheet, the info box gives the scale of the print, and rails drawn in 3D print as bedding, sleepers and track lines. • Raily 4 plans: layers are listed by number and name as in Raily 4, hidden layers are no longer locked, and the Layers window scrolls through long lists. • A plan opened from the file manager loads from any drive or network share. • New modules: Om BEMO and Om Weichen-Walter, contributed by Walter Völklein (weichen-walter.de). G track now at 1:22.5. • Some translation fixes.

G track now at 1:22.5. • Some translation fixes.
• Enabling auto-close. • Improved text import from Raily 4.
Plans from Raily 4 open more faithfully: layers keep their visibility, a plan saved in 2D opens in the 2D view, filled polygons keep their black fill, and the grid spacing lock carries over in both directions.
Copy, paste, undo and select all now act on what you are working in: a text field, a dialog, text being edited or the plan. On the Mac and Windows a copy also carries the picture. Editing text handles mixed writing directions, emoji and pasted paragraphs correctly. A printout has exactly the pages the print dialog shows, and after a crash the recovery offer comes up within seconds. A plan double-clicked in the Finder opens in the first window, and on Linux typing no longer sets off menu shortcuts. New: length handles on straight flex track and transition track as a rail type of its own.
The first release of Raily 5.
A licence or subscription can now be bought inside the app, with checkout in your own language. The manual is complete in six languages and opens from the app in all of them. Backups keep a history on the desktop and say where they are, and your own modules and inventory stay in step between your account and this device. New: a parts editor, viaducts, cut and fill, and chimneys.
