Account and server
With an account at raily.ch you save plans on the server, publish and share them, and a purchased offline license finds its own way back to you. Without an account, everything stays local.
In the browser the server is the usual storage location, because there is no file system there that Save could access on its own.
| Where | |
|---|---|
| In the browser | the button furthest right in the upper toolbar: Login…. Once logged in, it shows your name there, with Account… (opens the website's account management) and Logout… |
| In the desktop app | File → Login… and File → Logout |
The dialog asks for email and password, and offers Create account and a way to reset a forgotten password.
Buying works without an account too
A subscription needs an account, the offline key does not. See License, free tier and subscription.
Opening and saving
The menu entries are named differently depending on the platform, because the normal case differs:
| Action | In the browser | In the desktop app |
|---|---|---|
| Open from server | File → Open… | File → Open from Server… |
| Save to server | File → Save As… | File → Save to Server… |
| Open local file | File → Open from Computer… | File → Open… |
| Save locally | File → Save to Computer… | File → Save As… |
Save without "As…" overwrites the open document, wherever it is stored. For a plan that has never been saved, it asks for a name.
The server's file browser knows folders, a trash, and Rename, and also accepts files dropped onto it. Before overwriting, it asks first.
Without logging in, the server entries are greyed out, and the tooltip says "Not logged in".
Storage full
Raily then shows the used and the available quota. Save locally, empty the trash (this deletes permanently), or switch to a larger quota. Simply closing the dialog leaves nothing saved.
Sharing folders
Sharing happens on the website, in your account's file management: choose a folder, Share folder, enter an email address, and choose Can edit or Read only. The invited person sees the invitation after their next login.
In Raily, accepted folders appear in the file browser under Shared with me. You cannot save into a read-only folder.
Publishing
File → Publish has two entries:
- Publish Plan… puts the plan into the public gallery. Needs a login.
- Create Share Link… creates a link without publicly listing the plan. Needs a login and a subscription, otherwise it says "Needs a subscription".
File → Plan Gallery… shows the published plans of all users, sorted by Newest or Best, even without logging in.
